Excalibur by Chris-Craft

The beginning

This was a very special refit project for Neptune Yacht Refit Projects.

Being able to bring back the glamor of this iconic boat, the forerunner of the first model in Chris-Craft's Stinger range, was a challenge that we were very proud of.

In 1979, 15 of these iconic boats were built.

It is estimated that there are only 8 in the entire world.

The process

Upon arrival at the shipyard, after being rescued from a shipyard in Pontevedra, we started phase I of this project, with the total dismantling of the boat, so that only the fiberglass hull was left. Everything else has been taken out. We proceeded with the complete sanding of the hull, repairing small flaws, filling holes and cracks, rebuilding the engine compartment with composites, and general preparation of the boat for painting. In phase II, we proceeded to paint the entire structure and components, so that in phase III we began to assemble all the equipment and interior components, apply the new deck and assemble the seats with renewed upholstery. In phase IV, we installed the electronic equipment, replaced the windshield glass, installed and parameterized the digital probes, installed and tested the engines.

Phase I
Preparation for painting

Phase III
Application of new upholstery and new deck in progress; installation of various types of hardware almost completed.

Phase IV

All equipment assembled, new upholstery applied, windshield glass replaced, engines installed and tested, equipment and parameterized digital probes.

Final phase

Last checkings before leaving the shipyard for the Sea Trials.

The final result

We will always be suspicious, but it was one of the most rewarding recovery projects carried out by Neptune Yacht Refit Services so far, within this class. An icon from 1979 now has not only a new and more modern look, but also all onboard equipment of superior quality and the latest technology. A boat condemned to scrap when it arrived at our shipyard, which gained a new life, without ever losing the character that characterizes the classics Stinger by Chris-Craft and their racing silhouettes.
